Students from Wilkes-Barre Area Creative and Performing Arts Academy (CAPAA) participated in a special masterclass at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts headed by Jazz at Lincoln Center musician Luther S. Allison. The class occurred before Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Thursday, February 20 performance.
During the program, Luther participated in a question-and-answer session with students who were curious about his practice regimen, his recommended jazz albums, and his path to becoming a professional musician. Luther also provided constructive commentary to a student jazz band who were given the opportunity to play on stage.
