The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts invites families to step into the Hundred Acre Wood for a heartwarming cinematic experience as part of its Big Screen Summer Series. On Tuesday, August 26 at 1:00 PM, the Kirby will host a special sensory-friendly screening of Disney’s beloved classic, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
This event is designed with accessibility and comfort in mind, making it a welcoming space for all audience members. The theater lights will be dimmed (but not fully dark), and the film will be presented at a lower volume to create a more comfortable listening environment. A designated sensory-friendly area will be available for children and their parents to take breaks as needed.
Guests will also have access to a variety of accommodations, including:
- Noise-cancelling headsets
- Sunglasses for light sensitivity
- Headphones for the hearing impaired
- Multiple ADA seating options
- Special ticketing and concession ordering options to minimize wait times
Admission is free for children 12 and under and $5 for ages 13 and up, making it an affordable way for the whole family to enjoy a summer afternoon at the movies. Lobby doors will open one hour prior to the screening so guests can arrive early and get settled.
Released in 1977, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh brings together the gentle humor, friendship, and timeless charm of A.A. Milne’s classic characters — from the ever-curious Pooh Bear to the always bouncy Tigger. Whether you’re revisiting the magic or experiencing it for the first time, this screening promises to be a delightful treat for children and adults alike.
