Along with previously announced events like Louis C.K. on August 24th, the brochure introduces a full range of artistically enriching events for the community to enjoy. The F.M. Kirby Center strives to deliver fulfilling arts and culture experiences—from the rising anthems of alternative rock superstars Blue October to the hit Broadway experience The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy, the next year of programming includes amazing reasons to ask, “What’s the next show at the Kirby?”

This season also features the debut of the Big Screen Summer Series, a collection of child-friendly film screenings held on Tuesday afternoons this July and August. Scheduled movies include classics like The Lion King and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, as well as new favorites like Frozen and The Lego Movie. Each showing is free for children 12-and-under, with tickets priced at only $5 for guests 13-and-over. Children without valid ID must be accompanied by an adult. Camps, summer programs, and other organizations seeking group reservations can call the box office at 570-826-1100.
Independent films and documentaries get their time to shine during The W. Curtis Montz Film Series, with matinee and evening screenings held during most Wednesdays in July and August. The exceptions are July 16th’s screening of the classic film Star Wars, and August 27th’s screening of the classic film The Wizard of Oz. These screenings offer a chance for patrons to experience films in a former movie palace and celebrate the historic origins of what is now the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts.
The holidays are always an exciting time at the F.M. Kirby Center, with this year’s show schedule mixing traditional offerings like Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet with exciting new events like Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland. The Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic is joining in on the festive fun with The Snowman in Concert, an orchestral performance accompanying animated holiday classics The Snowman.
The brochure also includes new details on the Laux Young People’s Theater Series (YPTS), a collection of events for school-aged children that are made possible by the support of F.M. Kirby Center members. Each YPTS event is entertaining, educational, and entirely free for students to attend. This season’s lineup is one of the most diverse ever presented at the F.M. Kirby Center, and reservations are open now!
The Signature Series presented by Geisinger includes two unforgettable events that prove the enduring power of the performing arts. Swim alongside shark researcher Dr. Jess Cramp during National Geographic Live: The Untold Story of Sharks and feel the rhythms of Uganda with youth-based cross-cultural touring program Dance of Hope. Another beloved series of events, The Chandelier Concert Series, returns to the Chandelier Hall with a hometown performance by Mike Miz and The Northeast Extension.
“Our audience, supporters, and community are at the heart of everything we do,” F.M. Kirby Center Executive Director Joell Yarmel said. “We’re excited to present our 39th season, and we want to see you here! Each performance in our new brochure was handpicked with you in mind, so find your favorites and grab your seats. Your next favorite memory is just a ticket away!”
