The Wilkes-Barre Cavalcade of Jazz kicks off in style with our FREE Opening Ceremony on Friday, June 5th at 5 PM at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts!
Join us for an exciting performance by Indigo Moon Brass Band, a Northeast Pennsylvania favorite bringing the energy of New Orleans-style second line, traditional jazz, and funk to downtown Wilkes-Barre!
The evening will also feature a special presentation honoring George Graham with the Cavalcade’s inaugural Champion of Jazz Award for his extraordinary contributions to jazz broadcasting, recording, and promotion over more than five decades at WVIA Radio.
George Graham, one of WVIA’s original staff members, spent decades hosting and producing beloved programs including Mixed Bag, All That Jazz, and Homegrown Music, helping introduce generations of listeners to jazz, regional artists, and eclectic contemporary music. Though now retired from his hosting duties at WVIA, George continues his lifelong dedication to jazz as Director of Artist & Repertoire for Chiaroscuro Records.
Don’t miss this unforgettable celebration launching this year’s Cavalcade of Jazz weekend!
